Hydraulic Bolt Tensioners

Bolt tensioning essentially induces a predetermined axial load into the bolt or stud. This load, applied hydraulically, is commonly called the applied load and is calculated to ensure the desired residual load is retained by the studbolt.

Bolt tensioners are most often used for multiple or simultaneous tightening of bolts and in many circumstances are more accurate than using hydraulic torque wrenches since friction losses are not involved. This makes bolt tensioners particularly suited to gasketed joints but their accuracy also makes them a popular choice for single or multi-bolt fastening in the mechanical engineering industry.

Hydratight Sweeney has several ranges of bolt tensioners, each designed to suit a particular set of applications and market needs. If you are unable to find a tool model that suits your needs, please contact us. We would be very pleased to design a tool to suit your exact needs.
